It goes without saying that our rivers, creeks and lakes are an important part of the landscape in the 'Northern Rivers' region. Without them life would simply not be the same in these parts. And, of course, the landscape would be different without the occasional flooding and the ongoing erosion caused by our waterways.

The water supply in much of the region is provided for by the various dams that have been created on some of our creeks and rivers. Some of these damns are accessible as public recreational areas such as Rocky Creek and Clarrie Hall dams. Clarrie Hall dam is even open for human-powered boating.

Our rivers may not be the largest in the country but they are nonetheless imposing watercourses that can cause untold damage during floods yet paint a most serene and peaceful picture when the weather is behaving it's self. No matter where you are in the 'Northern Rivers' you'll never be far away from a lovely picnic spot on the banks of a little creek somewhere. |
