Flat Bark, Flower Beetles and Allies
Superfamily: Cucujoidea |
|
The Cucujoidea are a superfamily of beetles containing twenty-six families although there were a few more until recently when re-assessment of the evolutionary lineage of the group saw a small handful of families moved to the superfamily of the Coccinelloidea. The currrent taxonomic classification may well prove to be due for more change.
Member species of the Cucujoidea can be found over much of the world. The highest densities however, appear to have been recorded in Western Europe and North America. Twenty-one families can be found in Australia. Of these, fifteen may be encountered in the Northern Rivers. |
